Egypt's population is booming to over 90 million people. The challenge to feed this population, with limited and dwindling resources like water and arable land is a major challenge to the government. Cultivating desert land is not a new notion, though the scale of the current proposed project, turning a million feddans of desert in to viable land will no doubt be labor and water intensive.
